Earthquake Engineering Research Institute

Polytechnique Montréal Student Chapter

Missions and Goals:

The EERI-Polytechnique Montreal student chapter is established with the same mission and vision of EERI, which is to inform the community about the importance of earthquake engineering and to promote awareness to build sustainable and resilient infrastructure, which will help reduce the harmful effects of an earthquake on the built environment.

The primary goals of the EERI-Polytechnique Montreal student chapter are stated below:

  • Conduct outreach activities in cooperation with CEISCE and CAEE
  • Host bi-monthly guest lectures on topics related to earthquake engineering
  • Host yearly design competitions on a model scale for K-12 students interested in science.
  • Improve understanding and awareness of earthquake engineering among undergraduate students
  • Form a journal club to organize a monthly meeting. The main intent is to use this club as a vehicle for knowledge transfer and dissemination for earthquake engineering research being conducted within Quebec province and elsewhere.
  • Ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion in all activities within the student chapter.
